Help Is my warranty now void?

I'm currently getting my screen replaced by a local business and was wondering does that void my phones warranty?

I'm not really bothered about getting it fixed on warranty because I only have about 7 months left on contract, but if the warranty is void then I'm thinking I might have a serious look into rooting my phone.

Technically, yes. It depends on how thorough HTC would be when/if they repair it though.

I've returned 2 handsets with an unlocked bootloader (something which is supposed to void the warranty) and they've not batted an eyelid. I imagine they might be a little stricter when it comes to hardware though.

Yeah I had heard that they had decided not to let that effect the warranty now,

Just had a look at the rooting section and have remembered the actual reason I decided not to! I was completely lost within about 2 minutes of reading! haha

Will have to have a good look over it when I've got some spare time :D

Yes, that voids warranty. I broke screen of Sensation XL and I contacted them, they quoted price of $235+ shipping. I told them, I will get it done locally and was told, that will void warranty.

Next when I got One X, I asked the same question and was given the same answer.

BTW, how did you manage to crack it? The guy told me to watch for the corners, that is the weak point. He said, if I drop it flat, it will be fine, but if I drop it on the corner, it will crack. So I got a cover, that has little extra on the corners, it looks ugly but I don't care.

I found when rooting & flashing on my old desire its always best to go away & do something else when the process is going on.
Makes it a lot easier on yourself as somethings take longer to process on the phone, stops you going into panic mode.
(This advice isn't needed if you are a very patient person)

Shout if you get stuck with rooting, it looks a lot harder than it is. :)

Was thinking of rooting mine as only got a few months left till upgrade.. so how easy is it have already put cygenmod app thingy on the fone so any hints n tips gratefully received :-)

I've never used the installer but because of the bootloader unlock solution via htcdev (you need to flash stuff manually with fastboot), I didn't even think the CM thing was compatible?

Regardless, the bootloader unlock itself is pretty easy (there are instructions and pics on the htcdev site) and if you give me a second to dig them out, I'm sure I must have written some instructions on the rest of the process. :)

CM definitely what you want to go for?

No necessarily the easiest option will do really... Just want to be able to take some of the crapware of my fone.
