Is Odin Universal?

El Presidente

Beware The Milky Pirate!
It looks as though I'll be picking up the S8+ very shortly. I want to flash a recovery and root as soon as I get it, and it looks as though you need the latest version of odin to do so.

I've found this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/odin-3-12-5-t3570698

It appears to be the latest version, but it's in a thread for the S6 Edge. I'm almost 99% sure Odin is universal and one version works on all Samsung devices, but I want to make sure before I fire in and flash something I shouldn't.

Think I would wait a few months before rooting to be sure that there was no issue with the phone. Installing TWRP will probably trip Knox. Haven't read the thread and may not affect warranty depending on where you live.

Some of the older Samsung's don't play well with newer versions of Odin, but you should be fine with the S8+ and 3.1x and later. What's the rush to root and flash recovery?
