Is rooting still worth doing?

I have been using a Verizon, N910V, note 4 for a year or so. I have it rooted and running PaulPizzRom VRU2CPJ2.r-1, Android 6.01. That phone recently started acting wonky. It would not power up for a bunch of attempts. If I could get into my TWRP recovery, it would not re-boot into the system from there. I assumed it was a hardware issue, so, I bought a replacement Note 4. Now I can't remember why I thought it was important to root the phone. It seems like a tedious process that I'd be willing to go through if it had major benefit. The PaulPizzRom is no longer supported. The last Verizon factory update for the note 4, is to Marshmallow. The replacement phone is stock 5.1.1, which makes it an okay platform to root. I am not someone that tweaks the appearance of the OS or changes ROMs often. I did set my original phone up to work with ap2sd because I typically load a ton of apps and maps on the phone and wanted to use my 128GB sd card for app space and map storage. Any "advice" would be appreciated..I'm just spinning my wheels at the moment. I want a stable daily driver.
