Ok today I took the plunge and bought a HTC Amaze 4G. It scores really well and better feels so solid in your hand. I called customer service and explained my GX2 number 4 has lots its marbles. After two escalations and 57 minutes of troubleshooting they said its dead. they offered get this to replace the G2X with a G2X due to my insurance. I said I already own a turd why would I want another? He laughed and well agreed. He said I can do a an EIP on this phone due to its cost and it wouldn

You either buy a phone over time periods paying extra over the months, or you bring your own device. It's called a value plan. Since the phone is not subsidized, TMO is charging less. I have the plan, I like it. I buy unlocked phones from Amazon and use them. I don't care for some of the new offerings of phones. Nor do I care for the extra carrier stuff included. I did buy the SGS4G for the screen and promptly rooted it. No carrier bloat at all! No movies or social media.

You don't understand how things really work. There is no such thing as 'free' or ' subsidized' phones. You're gonna pay full price for the phone one way or another.
In the US usually the real cost is just factored into your monthly bill. But once the provider has recovered the cost of the phone your phone bill is still the same so their net profit goes up. So providers like it when you keep a phone a long time.
T-Mobile is trying to be more open about the deal with their Value Plans. You can buy a new phone at full price, a used phone or one you already have and get a cheaper monthly rate. If you can't handle paying full price in one chunk they'll let you do a down payment and finance the balance on your monthly bill. Once the phone is paid off your bill drops, unlike so-called 'subsidized' phone plans.

Well this really would have been nice to know a year ago when I could have went with a better phone off ebay. It still said in my contract I get a free upgrade after the two years is up if I choose to renew.. so how is that fair. Um I know how the cell phonr game works I was selling them before most were both back in 1988 just BEFORE even the Motorola 8000. The coolest thing I sold was the bag phone you plug into your cars cigarette lighter and put the antenna on your roof 5 watts of brain cancer death. Price 900.00 my activation kickback perk 350.00..... (to the salesman not the store) actual cost of the phone to us 1400.00. It was all about the longer they stayed with the carrier how big our company kick back was quarterly. So I get it I do its just I wold have liked to have known about it sooner instead of a product they sell is so bad I have 4 of them later and it died. I even had to pay for shipping EVERY time I was sent a new one. So wheres the fairness in that? I pay loyally every month every year as well and no even assistance in the cost other than putting me into debt another 600.00?
