Is the Duos variant 100% the same as the regular?

I hate dual sim phones but if I have to buy a Note 5, I have no choice but to get a Duos because that's what Samsung has released here in the Philippines.

So are the Duos and the Regular the same in all aspects? Performance wise? Because I have read reports that the dual sim variant loses signal or has poor reception even if you use it with just one sim.

Btw, "Duos" is emblazoned at the back of the phone which to me makes it look cheap. I don't want to put it in a case because the ergonomics of phone fantastic and it feels really gold in the hand.

That's SE Asia, unlocked, non-contract dual-SIM phones are prevalent there, so Samsung caters for that as well of course. You might be able to get an unlocked single-SIM Note 5 on-line, but be aware of where it's coming from, what bands and modes, regional-locked SIM activation, and Samsung warranty service. Have a look at Amazon.

Where did you read reports that performance is inferior to the single-SIM versions, would like to see URLs and/or citations. Because it shouldn't be, I use dual-SIM phones, including Samsungs, and had no problems with them along those lines at all, certainly not poor reception or loosing signal. A brand new phone I just bought is dual-SIM, an Oppo R7 Plus.

Don't know why Samsung likes to emblazon their dual-SIM devices with "DUOS", no other manufacturer does things like that AFAIK. There are many cheapo dual-SIM phones, often Chinese, and many of those are not very good or are downright trash.
