Is there a cap on albums?

I hit 16411 images in an album and it wont let me add anymore from anywhere (album is on an sd card and my phone is lg stylo 5)

There might be, depending on the particular phone, tablet, or other device you're using.

16 thousand images in an album* not 16k albums lol.

Its about 28gb of space though so I keep it on a 64gb microsd card

How are you accessing the album? Using what app? The gallery app?
Use a file explorer app instead to access the images.
Then again, why not just use Google photos, which automatically backs them up to the cloud and you'll free up that SD card also. 16,411 images will be lost if that card fails one day...

Dannydet is right. Your album is full of pictures, so I think it means a lot to you. You should save them to drive or cloud storage in case the SD card fails.
