Is there a few for unlimited data

Hi so I just reactivated a phone with metro pcs but they never showed me a contract i got unlimited data but my dad said i need to be careful and that it's not really unlimited they charge you after you go over your cap is this true and and if it is wouldn't they send you a warning please help I've been watching a lot of movies and shows on my phone so I think I passed the cap.

The caps are usually for high speed data. When you go over whatever cap there is they can/will/maybe slow you down so you're not getting 4g/LTE. They don't charge extra, you may just notice slower service. (I don't know what Metro's limit is).
