Is there a file manager app which compares folders?

ojos

Newbie
I know there are a huge number of file manager apps available but I'm looking for one which has a particular feature. I need one that compares the contents in terms of file structure of different folders. In particular, if I have 2 folders, say
Folder1 which contains files:
file1, file2 file3 .... filen ... and possible subfolder Folder 1a which has may have other folders & files

Now what I want to do is to compare Folder1 with a second Folder2 to check if it contains the same files & file structure as Folder1, eg file1, file2 file3 ... and, if so, do the files & subfolders have same properties (date, time, size). The for the app to tell me the difference in terms of files & file structures between the 2 folders so that I can synchronise the file structures.
I have yet to find a file manager app which includes this feature. Any suggestions?

PS I wanted to post this thread in the Apps & Games area but, as I'm pretty new here, I'm not sure how to place it there.

There's a subtle crossover as to what a file manager app is designed to do and what you're asking about, an actual file/folder syncing service. Try looking into one of the many file syncing apps instead.
I'll suggest "Syncthing", it's Open Source so no ties to corporate oversight, has an established history, and is continuously supported. It's a little involved to implement but when properly configured is stable and cross-platform.

Can't think of anything, but .. think outside the box. When you plug your telephone into your computer, your pc sees it as just another drive. If this is something that you'll not need to do on a frequent basis, just make a perl, awk, or tcl script to do the comparisons, that's pretty straightforward, should take just a few minutes.
