Is there a FREE screenshotter/screenrecorder app?

Hi there, i've been looking for a application where I can take screenshots of my HTC Wildifre, or even record the screen itself - using the phone.
Does this exist?

there are a half dozen, at least, and you can also do it with the android SDK. market search screenshot.

not sure if there are any that don't require root though.

They all require rooting, as Google apparently blocks this feature to prevent app developers from stealing your screenshots of your phone, to gather [possibly] classified\private information.

Shootme works on unrooted phones with Froyo.

You can take screenshots from your unrooted phone using MyPhoneExplorer.
