Help Is There a Known Major Issue with RAZR MAXX?

I got mine last Feb. About 4-5 months ago it started running real slow & sometimes just locking up so I would have to power it down. Sometimes I would have to do this Daily. I followed all instructions for cleaning caches and and that made no difference. The Geek Squad guy told me to wire/reset the phone. I did that, reloaded half the apps I had, and the problem still happened. Finally, once the Geek Squad saw it happening to them & the phone just power cycled on it's own, they ordered a reconditioned one per their warranty. I have that that about two weeks, loaded less apps than before, and the same symptoms are starting a couple times a week.

The basic issue is, you tap an app icon and it can take 5 - 15 seconds before the app opens. Sometimes the screen will eventually turn black and you have to power cycle it again. I find it odd that I now have seen this in two phones and am wondering if there is some kind of known bug that is inherent in this phone?

Thanks

Did you try it in safe mode maybe its not the apps it maybe to many apps or maybe you have downloaded a tasker app
What is a wire reset

I'll research that, thanks. The only problem is, it happens randomly with the new phone, so I have no idea how long I'd have to run like that.

Is there a place where one can find info on "tasker apps". I take it you are saying an app that runs heavily all the time?

I was actually confused by safe mode - all my apps still seemed to work. Some friends have suggested task/app killers and memory managers. Does anyone have an opinion on one that is pretty good. I am really starting to think that yes, I may have some hogs running in the background and maybe they should be stopped.

Thanks

I would suggest rooting it, installing safe strap and running a different ROM. I'm currently running Mokee 4.4.4 and it runs much better than the stock 4.1.2, plus it has some extra features that aren't on the stock ROM.

Thanks RJ. I just am not sure I want to go to that much trouble. I know my way around PCs, but Android devices I am still somewhat unsure of. I an going to go back to BB since it has a protection plan & see what new complaints will do for me. The other issue I have is that this is Verizon service & I am considered a Verizon retiree. However, I don't get the discount till I re-order service directly from Verizon Wireless, and my contract runs till February. I am also thinking of stopping by a VzW store & see if they can somehow take over the contract, extend it if required, and maybe get a newer phone. I am of this opinion this is considered old and probably not sold anymore.

I suppose it's for the best. I have found that Mokee doesn't seem to support 3G (EVDO) or 1XRTT for data, only LTE. I do not know why so I'm back to stock for now.

What where did you hear or see this at . Can you post the proof

Was this directed at me? Post proof? Really? If so it's kind of an abrasive tone. We haven't even met; usually it takes a bit for me to piss someone off.

That being said, I'm a fan of Mokee. I was running it on a Razr M with no issue until the phone did a back flip out of my shirt pocket onto a tile floor and broke the screen. So that put me back into a Razr. I loaded Mokee using safestrap. All appeared well as long as I was in known (to me) LTE areas - workplace one & two. As soon I went to known (to me) 3G/1x areas - home - I had no data at all. In settings>about phone>status there is no data connection and the network type is unknown. Since I don't use my smartphone as a phone but as an internet device I just went back to stock. I wanted to update my post as a caution to Tonyman13 because I didn't want to give false expectations. I certainly didn't want to get into a confrontation with anyone. I see you have over 5500 posts on this site, are all of them like this?

That's the rub with custom ROMs on phones. They can be finicky from phone to phone. Being a VZW device, is it possible your attempt could have coincided with tower work by Verizon. I know they have been going gangbusters in my area (my job requires that I know when they are replacing arrays on towers;)) upgrading. It's almost non-stop.

As far as the chippiness in the last couple posts, lets remember that sometimes pixels on screen can be misinterpreted or lose friendly tone. I don't think anything was posted with ill intent so lets smoth our feathers. If anyone has concerns or thinks I missed something, my PM box is always open.:)

Cheers:)

Go into settings about phone. Tap on the build a bunch of times to enable developer options if it isn't already. Then go back to developer options and change the runtime to art. That for rid of a lot of lag on my devices.

I don't think this is available in the current 4.1.2 version of Android on the RAZR MAXX. From what I've read elsewhere, it became available in the developer option in 4.4. Too bad.

Sorry got you confused with the droid maxx. They all have variations on the name.
Greenify might help. If you are rooted maybe entropy or a permissions app changes. But otherwise you can only freeze as many apps you don't need.
