Is there a way to block notifications for specific apps?

I know that you can turn notifications off for a specific app
I know that you can block the content of a notification on the lock screen.

But, how do you keep an app notification on for the home screen but off for the lock screen?

I want to receive the notifications while my phone is awake but hide them when my phone is locked.

Go into "Settings" "Sounds and Notifications" "App Notifications" and then select each app through. It'll give you an option to Hide content on lock screen. It's an individual process.

That will only hide the content. But it will still show that I have a notification from THAT app.
I don't even want to see that in lock screen.
For example, if I have a "whatsApp" message, doing what you suggest, will show WhatsApp notification with no content. But it will still show that I have a message. I don't even want to see that in lock screen.
WhatsApp is just an example. I want to do that for other apps.

The best thing I can think of is getting an alternative lock screen such as CM locker or Echo....and when setting it up just don't enable it to read notifications...therefore you will have a notification-less lock screen....plus many alternative lock screens just look better than the stock one.

Try a long press on the lock screen notification next time it happens - see if you get the standard options for blocking it or setting a priority there. Don't have an S6, don't know if it applies.

Hi I had the same problem BUT FOUND THE ANSWER at long last. No more pop ups are people able to see the message on the top of the screen.

go to Settings>Applications>Application manager>Downloaded>Then app you want>Then un-tick the box "show notifications"
THIS WILL WORK and will still show you that you have a message with out any name or message popping up.
