Is there a way to make the HTC News & Weather widget transparent?

Of all the widgets and apps I have, this one BY FAR is the most indispensable to me. I am ready to start fresh on my EVO and any theme or customizing I do, I want HTC News & Weather to be on the home screen, possibly the lock screen as well.

Has anyone done this? If so, please point me in that direction!

I have seen a themed HTC news/weather app on XDA that is transparent. You probably have to be rooted to use it though. Check over there in the Themes/Apps section - I don't have a link.
