Is there a way to use facebook app without syncing contacts?

Is there a way to use the Facebook app w/o syncing my contacts? I'd really like to use the app if it wouldn't download tons of unwanted contacts...

I had the same problem, I forgot how to exactly do it, but just go to your settings and look for Syncing options.

Using facebook 1.3 on the Droid it is in Menu > Settings > Sync Contacts, and then select "remove facebook data."

You can also do this:
From your homescreen, goto Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync.
You will see a section that says Manage accounts, and you should see facebook there. Click on the button and Sync will turn off.

I haven't installed facebook yet. I would like to use the app but I dont want to install it if it is going to automatically download all of my contacts.

it wont. once you install it and after loging in it will ask what you would like to do. just click no sync. or at least thats what it asked me

Hm.. which version did you use? I hear terrible things about the new one.

I have the new one... I like It but others dont. It needs more work but its good for now. Also I forgot about this but If you are worried about syncing you can just turn it all off on the phone settings. And once you Install facebook you can turn It back on so that way it wont do it randomly if my above post some how Is wrong and It does sync for you.

The new one looks awful in my opinion and still isn't up to par with the iphone version. I'll just stick to going to the touch version of the website.

Is anyone else having issues with receiving text notifications from Facebook? For the past week or so I have not received a single text when I get a message or anything else I had it configured for.
