Is there an app for that?

I have a Note 3 and am using the default Messaging app for texting.
I also have SMS Popup.

What I would like is to be able to JUST get notifications in the status bar that I have a new text and not any previews at all of the message. Just something like "New Message" is enough and for the phone to make a sound.
The way it works, even with SMS Popup, is that I always get a preview of the entire message in the notification bar.

I tried Handsent but with the latest update I can't stand that app.

Is there any app out there that will work with the Samsung Messages app where I can customize to do the above.

I thought SMS could do it but that's just not the case. Almost everything else tho...

Thanks

My favourite SMS apps (Textra and Chomp) both have an option to not show the message text in the notification.

Have you tried SMS Popup's "privacy mode" (in its "Additional settings")? I've not, but that certainly sounds like it should hide the message text.

If you only want the notification, why do you have SMS popup? As for removing the preview on the notification bar using the stock SMS app on Samsung, just go to the Messaging app> press the menu button> settings> scroll to notification> disable message previews. All notifications will just read as "new message". Or you could just disable Messaging notifications and rely on SMS popup.

On Note 3, SMS - Menu button - Settings - More, make sure to uncheck 'Preview message'. Have a try, please.
