Is there an SMS app that actually WORKS correctly?!?

FYI, I'm using a Viper ROM rooted HTC One M8 on Verizon.

For the longest time I had been using GoSMS Pro as my SMS text messaging app. Their updates made things worse, so I used Titanium Backup to roll back and leave well enough alone. Unfortunately, I soon lost the ability to send scheduled messages, but worse, MMS pic sending stopped working.

So, I switched to Chomp per the recommendations of a few folks. Well, now MMS receiving doesn't work on Chomp. I can send images via MMS, but I can't receive at all. I have messed with the APN settings as the app recommends, but that hasn't helped one bit. When I contacted Verizon to ask about said APN settings, the rep told me they have received numerous inquiries about the same issue with the same app--Chomp. He then further stated that Chomp "isn't compatible with Verizon devices at this time; it doesn't properly work." I'm also experiencing similar issues with Handcent and wasn't a fan of that SMS app, either.

I don't send a lot of images via text, but when I do, they're important family ones, and it's really irritating to not have a good SMS text app that will do all of this. I tried Verizon's stock Messages app, which graphically isn't that bad; however, I can't send multiple pics. I have to send pics in separate texts, and that's a pain in the ass. If I was able to send a slideshow on Verizon's SMS app, I'd be happy.

It sounds like Verizon may be a significant part of the problem here, so what you really need is recommendations from Verizon owners.

Well, Verizon's message app works fine, except that you cannot send multiple pics in one text. You have to send them individually, which is a pain in the ass if one has several pics.

That figures.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, GoSMS Pro used to work well. They're so obsessed with constant updates that they've screwed it up so badly.

Don't know about Chomp, but its baby brother Textra will allow you to set a picture MB limit and automatically adjust any pictures to fit.

Verizon says that 2 MB is supported, most everyone I know uses 1 MB on Verizon and it just works.

I think that the Verizon rep was just yanking your lariat and passing the blame instead of giving you the real low down.

And yeah, I started out liking GoSMS but you couldn't pay me to go back to it.
