Is there any difference between android on different phones?

I am a bit of a phone n00b I really dont know to much, but I liked the look of what android has to offer. What I was mainly wondering was is there much difference between android on a big phone and a mini. Like say if I got an Sony xperia X10 mini rather than the big one is there much difference to it other than the different sized screen. Could I still put all the apps and stuff on? Or is is really gimped? Thanks!

I'm sure their will be some differences, you need to research both phones and see what you like and what matters to you as far as speed performance, software, apps available the look and size of the screen or if your into games and things of that nature and most likely If you have a mini version and a big brother version their will be different.

They all have the ability to download and use apps. The spicific app depends on the firmware version of the phone. Example: An app that works on 2.1 might not work on phones running 1.5, 1.6 etc.
