Root Is there any way to receive animated gifs from iPhone users?

I just upgraded from the LG G2 to the LG V10 and I now am unable to see animated gifs from iPhones. They just show up as still images. I could see these on my G2, but not since I upgraded. I have tried Messager2, Hangouts, and Messenger to find no solution.

I have a family full of iPhone gif fanatics, and though I will never switch from my android, this is one of my biggest frustrations. (First world problems, huh?) Plus my husband prefers to speak entirely in gifs, so I am left wondering what the eff he is trying to say.

I would suggest using GoSMS Pro. It has a Gif section, so my assumption is that if it's able to send them, you may be able to retrieve them using this app. Good luck, Ms. Daniels.

This is a real clumsy solution but web browsers like Firefox and Chrome include the ability to play files like animated GIFs so you can also use your browser to view GIFs saved to your phone. If you type in, "file:///storage" (leaving out the quotes) into your phone's browser you can navigate to the directory the GIF is located and it should work at least until a better option gets posted.
