Is this likely Malware?

I keep getting these pop-ups that say stuff like "84% of memory used. Tap to boost" or "16 apps using CPU. Fix now." I did not (purposely) download any sort of CPU fixer, battery saver, etc. Can't find an app on my device that might be causing this. Not sure what to do to get rid of them. Any help would be appreciated.
 
If these popups are notifications tap and hold on them to check which app the come from. And if the app is something you didn't install first force stop then clear data and uninstall the app.
 
Props to you for not installing one of those 'utilities'. Could be just some cruft your carrier added, since you're not seeing anything obvious in your App menu check in your Settings. If it is a system app it could be something buried in a sub-menu.
