Is this true in terms of a lost phone?

So called Metro, just disconnected the phone, and the rep tells me they can't brick the phone unless I had insurance.. WTW?! I know with another company that wasn't the case. So either way, disconnected until I get another phone or not, once I switch my number over that person can then activate my phone?! So that's a way of forcing insurance on a customer. I need advice on what to do. I can understand not getting another phone because of no insurance, but to not be able to brick it is a sure way to not keep a customer. Besides even with insurance, don't you still have to pay for a phone partly?

Hi Ocala, how do I use the app if I dont have the phone? I tried pushing it, but I called and had it disconnected before I posted so the person who has it cant use the phone. I probably can't push it since its disconnected. It did have a lock on the phone where you needed my code.

Heck if I know. :p (I think once you push the App to the phone you ring all the bells from the Apps website.)

I would assume your phone would have to have service and I know it has to have juice in the battery.

For a $500 phone I think I'd have Metro turn it back on til you found it anyway.

PS You can find, relock and wipe the phone once the app is pushed to the phone.

If you bricked your phone, bring the phone in and tell them it just stopped working. Manufacturer's warranty is good for a year. If you've had the phone for less than a month they will replace it for free, otherwise it'll cost you a little bit of money.

Example: LG Motion 4G is $10 to replace.

Sepero (or anyone else that knows).

Will Metro honor the manufacturer's warranty even if I got the phone from Wirefly? Do they have some quick and easy way to know I DIDN'T get the phone from Metro?

I hope it doesn't happen but I'd much rather deal with a local Metro store than have to send it back to Wirefly or LG.

Thanks in advance,

Btw I saw a spirit for ten buck cheaper on amazon, and I think I will buy it there. Will the rebate still work if I buy it from them? Btw they didn't let me brick it.

Before I'd gamble $10 on $70 I go to Metro's Faceplant page and ask them to be sure.

The only places specifically noted in the rebate mouseprint as NoGo's for rebates are BestBuy and WalMart.

I don't know if they will replace the phone if you bought through wirefly. I think they should have your IMEI in the computer system if you bought from them.

Don't you have to give them that number no matter where you got the phone from to activate? I think so. So again, I don't know how or if they can easily tell your phone isn't from Metro. (Unless I am misunderstanding you)

I ended up buying it from Amazon. I read the fine print too and it mentioned Bestbuy however though it did say only Metro stores, but you aren't the only one that mentioned using the rebate, so how were the people who successfully used the rebate who purchased their phone from wirefly able to do so? I really would like the rebate money but I need a phone especially since I plan on doing so much things this week. Kind of sucks not losing a phone when you really don't have anything planned. I will go to their FB page and ask. I feel they will tell me only Metro. I don't think they would admit to any loopholes like this site does.

Because I did just what I suggested YOU do. I went there and ask them myself then posted the snip of their reply back here. That's how.

That is strange. There is no post to their wall (comments) about the subject today. Perhaps you sent them a message that only you and they can see. If so, either they misunderstood you or you them. You misread one of my replies to you, perhaps you also misread Metro's reply to you.

Here it is in WRITING from Metro if that's good enough for you. Not to mention, if it's not Ok from Wirefly, then my own rebate wouldn't be sitting in for final processing now. (And that's just to check to see if I still have service to that phone 30 days after I activated it which IS a requirement.)

I expected the response I got because Metro always gives me different answers. I clearly asked them if I can get a rebate if I bought the phone from a different place, i.e. Metro PCS. I mentioned the Best Buy and
Walmart exclusion, and it took him up to today to answer. Then to make matters worst Amazon didn't include a receipt in the packaging . I am still going to try with the rebate anyway. I wonder if a printed out receipt from my account would work? Grrrr!

I asked them on their wall, and then then asked me to email them. Either way, I'm still going to try. I think I need to call Amazon so they can send me a receipt, because I don't think a print out would suffice.

At 5:39 pm yesterday, you posted you were About to get the phone from Wirefly. One hour later at 6:46 pm you were just deciding to Maybe get the phone from Amazon.

So how is it, that just 20 hrs later, you know there's no receipt in the box with your new phone. Hmmm?

I received it today as well as another package from Amazon, both no receipt, not the first time, but most of the time I still get a receipt from Amazon, but that is besides the point. I have no receipt, and now I have to try and get one from Amazon, and I still might not get a rebate.

I've sold many random things on Amazon before and never included a receipt. You just print the receipt from the Amazon website.

Normally, I would think your order confirmation sheet from Amazon that you could print off from your account would work. The rebate form even contains such language.

But not for Amazon.

Metro just messaged me back on Faceplant. Amazon is a Definite No Go for the rebate.

Ooo.. Well the reason I mainly bought from amazon because wirefly was not accepting my chase debit card (weird.)

Ugh, Oh well.. I just don't think I can be bothered with it. I'm still a lil peeved that I lost my phone (my fault) and Android Lost isn't working.. I'm just going to woosah, and maybe see if I can get another app to help me find my phone. The reviews are so promising, about people getting their phone back, and I feel like so close and yet so far. It's keeping me from wanting to switch my number to my new phone.
