Is virgin mobile 4g wimax unlimited for phones?

Technically, it is unlimited but I think I read Virgin will throttle your data speeds after reaching the 2.5 GB limit for the month.

Yes it's unlimited, for now anyway. I go well over 2.5 gigs a month and still have full speed for both 3G and 4G.

Because I was thinking of getting T-Mobile 30 plan with 100 min, unlimited text, but on 5gb of 4G and that isn't enough for me.

I barely ever talk on the phone but 100 minutes would never cut it. I never thought that T Mobile deal was anything special.

You can use Groove IP to get around the minutes, the real problem is that T-Mo doesn't have a 3g network anymore. After your data allotment you get dropped down to 2G, EDGE speeds which are even more abysmally slow than Virgin's network.

From what I've seen, every carrier that throttles drops you down to EDGE speeds (2G). And 5GB, other than VM with the Evo (on 4G), is more data than any prepaid carrier allows before throttling. Throttling on a VM phone would be meaningless if they still allowed 3G speeds -- since 3G usage is what they are limiting.
