Is virgin mobile wimax throttled?

They're currently in the process of implementing throttling for wimax. My account page just started tracking my data usage in the last few days. Before this week, it just said 'unlimited' when I checked my data usage. Now it shows mb used and says data speeds may be reduced after 2560mb

Yes they now throttle WiMAX. There is a 2.5gb throttle but you will want to check your area for coverage I don't really like WiMAX in terms of coverage I would get an lte phone on virgin. Lte is the future and WiMAX is going to be stripped down in 2015. Lte will soon surpass 3g in coverage and it is expanding rapidly.

As another user said, they are now throttling after 2.5 GB of data use -- and that is 2.5 GB total data, not just the data downloaded over WiMax. This is also true for users with LTE phones, they are also throttled after 2.5 GB of total data usage.

I agree with SuperAfnan about WiMax, even in the cities that have it, coverage tends to be very spotty. If you live in an LTE city, LTE would be the better purchase. Though I also find the GSM carriers/MVNOs to have much better speeds, overall, than Virgin and the other Sprint MVNOs.
