Issue playing some video files

Hi Guys,

I'm new here so play nice :)

A friend of mine obtained an FXG DVD Rip and copied it to his Desire HD. It plays perfectly without any issues. He is using the standard gallery.

Video Info: 754 kbps XviD 23.976 FPS with .avi file extension

I have tried to RIP some of my DVDs for the train trek to and from work. I have tried DVD Fab and selected the output as .avi encoded with XviD (the "generic.avi.xvid.mp3" profile). However mine wont play on my Device. Just says "sorry, unable to play file"I tried the FXG Rip and it worked fine.

Any ideas?

I'm almost positive android cannot play xvid files stock. You would need to use a separate player like Rock Player or VPlayer.

You should use DVD Fab to rip the movie, then use Handbrake to convert to h.264, a codec that works perfectly with android.

Indeed.

By the way, if you convert it to H264 instead of Xvid, you should have a better video quality for the same file size. You also need to put the files in mp4 container (not avi).
