Help Issue sending pictures via text with Nexus 6 on Straight Talk AT&T

patchmop

Lurker
I'm hoping some guru out there can help me with this. I have a Nexus 6 32gb I bought thru google play and ported my number from boost mobile to straight talk ATT since they have better coverage where I live. I love the phone and I think I have everything working except I can't send a text with a picture attached. I'm assuming it is something wrong with APN settings but not sure. Is there anyone out there that is running this phone and carrier and can help either with APN settings or knows of some other thing that I need to adjust? Thanks for the help!!!

Welcome to AF! :)

I've moved your post to the Nexus 6 Section, you should get a response here.

APN Settings sounds about right though, Head to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names and you should be able to change them there.

You should be able to find the settings here: http://www.straighttalk.com/wps/portal/home/support/apn

If what you have currently matches up there, I know previous versions of Android have had issues with MMS when wifi was activated so try turning that off and seeing if it makes a difference.

Your new phone may be taking pictures larger than your carrier's media limit for messaging.

They used to bounce back and tell you that but anymore that fails silently and you don't know what happened.

Try Textra - you can set an upper limit to picture file sizes and if yours are bigger, Textra automagically resamples them so they'll just work.

Plus it's an outstanding app all around.

Thanks for putting my post in the right region and thanks for the tip on suggested settings I'll make sure mine match and also shut off wi-fi and try it.

OK thanks I'll give it a try I don't much like messenger so this would be a double win if that fixes my picture problem as well!
