Issues After Flashing Stock ROM and Root

I have had this I9505 rooted for a couple of years, but as I had problems with the motherboard, I had to change it and flash everything. I took this opportunity to make it fresh.

Since then I have three problems. One, are issues with Wi-Fi. When it is turned on, the icon it is dimmed for about 25 seconds before full light up and connects, and loses the passwords at every reboot or disconnection/connection with another Wi-Fi. Secondly, all motions functions, gestures and air view under Settings –› My device are not working when set. The third issue is that I cannot root the phone with TWRP. The root checker says the root access is not properly installed. I thought I could try to repair the files for these functions under root.

I flashed the last stock ROM, I9505XXUHPK2 (BTU), downloaded from SamMobile, many times, always with the same result as above. Each time, after checking for the issues (Wi-Fi and motions functions) I followed by TWRP, but always getting the same result with the root access is not properly installed.

To be sure there was no error in the ROM file, I downloaded the file from SamMobile, checked their MD5 hash and there was no difference.

Yes, SuperSU zip is flashed in TWRP recovery. Not sure what the other problems you are having with the stock rom. Did you replace the motherboard yourself or have a shop do it?

How do I flash SuperSU from TWRP if I cant get there on either download or recovery mode?
Yes I replaced the MB myself because I have some experience with computers. I only bought my first one and I have build them since then. It seems simpler that with PCs.

Copy SuperSU update zip to your sd card. When you use Odin to install TWRP recovery, make sure Auto Reboot is unchecked. After flash is successful, unplug cable and remove the battery. Replace the battery and use the button combo to boot into recovery (TWRP). In TWRP, select install, from SD card, and select the SuperSU update zip. Swipe the arrow to flash.
Once the SuperSU zip is installed, it will keep the stock recovery from overwriting TWRP recovery.

Jfalls63, It will take me some time to do it. I'll be back.

Xavier Black. Everything is possible, but I have to make sure.

If the wifi was just a signal issue, I would say it was a antenna connection issue. But with the problems you described and on stock firmware, could be hardware.

On my searches I found the loss of Wi-Fi passwords could be corrected on a file, wifi_supplicant.conf, but without root access I get to it.

Is it possible to flash TWRP with SuperSu together on Odin. I don't think so, but if yes, with which Odin button? The SuperSu version on the link above?

Edit: I am very interested to try and finish with this, but I have to suspend by now for a couple of hours, sorry.

No, the SuperSU zip file needs to be flashed in TWRP. I would try a older version of SuperSU, like 2.65, then let it update thru the app

I did as you said, and based on that added more.

I decided restart from the screech, so I made a wipe data/factory reset.
Flashed the ROM without auto reboot
Removed and replaced the battery.
Went to recovery, wiped the cache and restarted
The Wi-Fi issue remained.
Then I followed your procedure for TWRP and it finally installed. I think the battery removal and replacement made the trick because I had already tried too many times without success.

It took me much longer than I supposed, sorry.

There are many things still to do before the phone is almost ready. What I don’t understand is that I just installed TWRP and at first reboot I got a notification saying TWRP App Update Required. Please update the TWRP app!
Will that refer to SuperUser, because I installed an ancient file? Previously, I had v2.46, after I downloaded v2.82, and I installed v2.65 from your link. You also said “let it update thru the app”. How?

Maybe the Wi-Fi issue and maybe I'll have to replace this motherboard as by Xavier Black suggestion. Not lucky, but before I must try to repair that problem, even because to get another one means another month waiting.

If I remember correctly, new versions of TWRP have a check box for installing their app that will let you know when a new version of TWRP is available for your device. You see this box the first time you boot into TWRP. I have always unchecked the box so never bugged to update.
Haven't used SuperSU in a while but used to get notified from the Play Store when update was available just like any other app.

In any case, that is strange for TWRP because I downloaded the latest version, 3.2.1-0, and there is no newer one, I just checked again. That was why I thought i could be for SuperSu. I will check about that button, thank you
And yes, I believe there might be a problem with the motherboard.

Coming to think of it, that notification to update the TWRP app was not about the TWRP rooting file v3.2.1-0, the very last one. The application with the same name from Google Play that I had saved in my computer, therefore old and needing update.

By the way, I keep my S4 because I don´t like the newer versions looking rather like a mail box flap, far from having with as many advantage as advertised and a smaller screen, smaller area.
