Help Issues with predictive text/correction bar on Samsung Keyboard

zbells

Lurker
So I recently ran into a problem with the Samsung Keyboard, that when I am typing in messages, the predictive text/corrections bar on top of the keyboard is just an empty white bar with no words in it. It's really frustrating and I don't want to move to the Google Keyboard because I like how the numbers are on top of the Samsung one.

Any help or tips? I've contacted Samsung and am still awaiting a reply.

You have an Android phone. There are absolutely ZERO reasons to stick with stock apps, especially when, by your own admission, they're not living up to your expectations.

Use Swiftkey, you won't regret it.

I am not having that issue but I agree I like the numbers on top too like that. Why not fix what is broken instead of installing another app I say. Have you tried a factory reset on the phone? Did you take the phone into your carrier to see what they say, maybe it's defective and needs replacing, happens. Mary

Mainly because it is far quicker and easier to just install a more reliable app such as Swiftkey, to go through a factory reset and reinstall of your apps, and reset your phone, with no guarantee of success is a rather long winded way of doing things. Phil

Because you CAN'T fix the stock keyboard. You can polish a turd all you want, but the best you can hope for is a shiny turd. The stock keyboard is a turd.

That's one reason why developers make 3rd party apps, because frequently they can add features that the stock apps' programmers can't or won't include. In other instances they can simply make an all around better program. In the case of Swiftkey, the developers have made an all around better program that has features that the stock app's developers couldn't or wouldn't include.

You can beat your head against a wall all you like, or in less than a minute you can have a keyboard installed and working that is head and shoulders above all the others. It's your time, it's your decision.

I solved this issue on my S5 active by going to settings, application manager, all applications and finding Samsung keyboard in the list. hit clear data and restart the phone.

You can fix this by going to the keyboard settings and changing the keyboard and language settings from English (UK) to English (US)..you might have to download the English (US) settings. Hope this helps!
