Issues with replacement phone

Within the past weeks, my Samsung Galaxy s2 has not been fully charging or updating apps due to insufficient storage space. I checked the storage to find that it only has 2 GB. I know for a fact my original phone had more storage space than this. This is a replacement phone sent to me from Virgin Mobile after my first totally died after 6 months. I have had this phone since August and my warranty is up December 5. Anything I can do? I have tried contacting Virgin Mobile and they have told me to send it in for week of monitoring which I am not willing to do since I need my phone. Thanks!
