It may be useful to have a 'best smartphone' thread/poll here ?

Nice forum.

I was trying to find recommendations for the current best Chinese smartphones.

I can see a lot of smartphones listed in the forums, but i don't have time to research about 500 different models.

Do you think it might be a good idea to create a sticky thread or two with a poll about the current best smartphones of the season?

Or can anyone point me in the direction of such a thread if it already exists?

IMO the best Chinese smartphones generally come from brands you've probably heard of, basically Lenovo, Huawei, ZTE, Coolpad, Oppo, Meizu, Xiaomi and Hisense.

The term "best" is so subjective as to make any such poll worthless as soon as it's populated. Many people feel their current phone is best for their current needs, only to change when their needs change or a newer phone becomes available and they're unable to alter their vote in such a poll.

I'd advise just purchasing a phone that has the features you require and that's got coverage in the areas where you'll be using it. It really doesn't matter beyond that, as anything you buy will be antiquated very soon.
