If seeing is believing then the Moto X is waterproof (at least if dropped in say a toilet or puddle or bath tub). So why doesn't Motorola make this a selling point? Check this under water test out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ8H1EtnqI0

Anyone recover a device after water accident. My daughter did a toilet drop. After letting it sit for 2 days it will not power on and charge battery says "?" If we try to boot up it will instantly shutdown. I opened up the back and did not see any water inside, I plan on letting it dry out a few more days, possibly in some damp rid to see if it will charge.
This was a 10 toilet second drop. Guess water resistance is subject to conditions.
Sorry to hear that. Well, from the YouTube tests I was hopeful the Moto X could survive a toilet drop easily. But from your real life experience I guess its not safe from water mishaps.
I'm pretty sure that the water resistance is meant to protect the phone from being in your pocket during a heavy rain storm, or from perspiration while you exercise, or condensation when you go outside when it's cold, and not from being submerged.
