Root I've bricked it.

Hi everyone,

I've not tried rooting anything since my old HTC Magic, but I thought I'd try and put Cyanogen on my N1. Well, I stupidly forgot to do a nandroid backup and now the phone hangs on the Nexus 'X' boot screen. After that, the screen goes black but still seems to be on (?).

I've tried wiping and installing Cyanogen again, but no luck there.

Have I now got a rather expensive doorstop?

Cheers,

Edin Guy

I've done that and I can still get into recovery, but I can't seem to do anything after that. Wiping and recovering doesn't do anything.

Don't panic... your phone isn't bricked so long as you can get to recovery.

Do the following:-

1. Go to the CyanoGenMod site here and download update-cm-6.1.1-N1-signed.zip
to your computer home screen.

2. You now have to put the downloaded zip file onto your SD cards root folder (not in a file). You can use a USB card reader for this.

3. Boot your phone into recovery again and select "install from SD card".

4. Be patient it takes awhile. It should then boot into CM6.1 stable.

Here is a thread on allegedly bricking your phone that may help you if you get stuck.

Good luck! :D

be sure to do everything you are told to do on the "N1 Full update guide" over at Cyanogen WIKI page !
if you successfully do all the steps ,you will have a rooted and fully functional CM6/CM7 rooted phone !

otherwise - if you did not install or have flashed into clockwork/amonra recovery ,try restoring your phone with a original N1 ROM and try again.
