I've lost my motion - what kind of phone will I get with the insurance?

I've heard you get a phone "of equal or lesser value". What kind of phone can I expect?

They won't do me dirty and just give me another motion, will they? This wouldn't make sense as they're trying to migrate everyone to GSM.

Let us know if they give you another motion..Be kind of mess up if they do, cause if I'm not mistaken don't you still have to pay some, to get a replacement..

Well, I've paid 6 dollars a month for the insurance for 14 months. That's 84 dollars I've paid. Plus, I believe there's a deductible somewhere around 30-35 bucks, I think?

I don't want to be out around 120 dollars for an EOL phone.

A friend of mine recently needed to replace their LG Motion with another one because it got damaged. As a replacement, they sent them the ZTE Avid 4g

It's not equal or lesser, its equal to or whatever is comparable, and how are they "doing you dirty?" if they have it in stock thats what they send. One of my customers had a CDMA S3, they ran out of stock, so they sent her a brand new GSM T-mobile S3 sealed in box, same goes for my s4, I broke it, and they sent me a brand new phone,it all depends on what is available when it happens to you.

How are they doing you dirty when there's at least another 16 months that your new replacement Motion will work just fine?

If anything you Did YOUROWNSELF dirty, not Metro, when you paid More into insurance than it would cost you to replace the phone yourself on Fleabay.

insurance is a rip off. I sold almst new Motion for 60$ on ebay. I think its time for you to upgrade to something better. Maybe it's a sign? :-)

not a rip off if you use your common sense or you can do simple math.

Example: $100 phone, you pay $5 a month and have it for a year and claim insurance, and pay a $40 deductible, its a wash more or less.

$550 phone (S4) paying $5 a month insurance, breaks it in 4 months, $20, plus the $130 deductible, congratulations, you saved yourself $400.

the point is just be careful when buying a device, people will try to push you to buy something you may not need.

Only problem with $100 phone is that it now cost $50 after a year, because it's an old model. No wash more or less

"If" is a big factor. 1)if it breaks within 4 months, it has a warranty b) if it breaks after a year, price will drop significantly for the phone and it could be bought at most same price as insurance coverage. c) even after you replace it, you continue to pay insurance, again it build up costs of a replaced device. d) assuming it's not your first insurance, you've already paid insurance companies more than enough.

I had LG motion for a year and I broke the screen. New one (at time there was no discount on metro site) cost me $90. And my new phone was here in a day. It would be $40 deductible + $60 for a year of insurance. It would be completely pointless for me. It was the first phone that I broke in my entire life, all other are still working, and I'm not a white collar, my phones go through hell.

Pardon my opinion, but if you buy $600 phone. Have intentions of losing or breaking it within next 4 months to turn your total bill for a phone into 600+20+130+(maybe case, screen protector and SD card if lost) = almost $800 you are a total idiot. My back up plan would be IF it I lose it I deserve to own something cheaper to avoid further insurance costs. On another hand IF it does not break or get lost, I save $60 per year. And if it were 4 phone lines I own, that would be $240 per year.

So assuming it worth to have insurance for high end phone. It's almost pointless for anything at the range of $150-200.

pretty much, just depends on how you are with your phone.

agreed. Insurance makes sense for these $500 phones. I'm not about that life so mine will always be $200 or less. Hopefully I can get a few girls to unknowingly give me $50 each and I can get it for free lol.

Question about phone breakage. If I broke my GS3 and metro replaced it would I be able to keep my promo monthly deal of $30 per month I got when I bought my original GS3?

probably not because theres a good chance they'll send you a GSM S3

Probably not. When my gs3 came up missing and I did an insurance claim they sent me the gsm s3. You have to give up your plan if they send you a gsm phone.

That's because no one has pushed the issue BEFORE just Getting a GSM phone back.

I don't think there is any provision in their insurance that says, "we can force you to change plans before we will send you a replacement phone." It's not like they're turning CDMA off tomorrow. There's at least 14 months of it left. There's still brazillions of folks on CDMA.

I think if you told them, "I'm not going to change plans while CDMA is still active and you have to give me a phone I can use" you would have them over a barrel.

Of course, that would need to happen at the Beginning of the insurance claim.

Good luck trying that, depending on when you file the claim and how efficiently you fill out the paperwork, the TAT is usually around 24 hours, so very small window of time to do that, not to mention, they ship what they have available at the time.

In my case, I didn't want to push the issue. I would have preferred, and do prefer, the gsm version. Price went up 5 bucks a month and the service, for me, is a lot better than when I was on cdma. To each his own.

I'm not sure 'pushing the issue' would have changed the outcome anyways. The gsm version is what they had in Stock, not the cdma. So that's what they offered.

You payed that because you are a sucker. It is so stupid to pay those insurance. They are going to give you a crappy $50 dollar refurbished LG Motion or and Indulge.

Realized I'd been paying for insurance ever since I bought my Esteem, nearly 2 years ago. Our Metro rep told us many customers are now receiving GSM handsets when they file claims on CDMA handsets, so I filed a claim to see what they would offer. They said they have Esteems in stock, therefore they wouldn't substitute a different model, so I cancelled the claim.

I would go to corporate store and try no negotiate the deal with the manager. Tell them you are agree to get some reimbursement, even if you offer a little bit less credit, you are still going to get some money towards GSM phone, I would give it a shot.

Too bad metro itself doesn't deal with insurance they just sign you up to asurion and add it to your billing

they cant do anything about it, you'd have to argue with asurion, they make the decision, not the stores.
