I've read all the books...

Yes it very much is a teacher thing, and a students thing as well. Sometimes at English corners, where the only thing many students want to talk about is Harry Potter. :thumbsupdroid: ...and I'm happy to oblige. One thing that fascinated the students, is the concept of the school house system.

Harry Potter is a thing in China....and I've got a lot more into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry ever since I've been at Jinan Foreign Language School, teaching grade 7.

That game is apparently stuffed to the gills with micotransactions. One to avoid, even if you're a fan.

I've realised it seems to be a linear storyline in the game with not much true interactivity, and basically you're just tapping a few things, doing a lot of waiting or having to spend $$$ on gems....so that's enough of this game for me. :thumbsdowndroid:

Well it's over a year in this thread. And I took another interest in this game. I installed it, it picked up where I left off. Seems to be a lot more interactive now, more things to do, even when playing it free. The updates have definitely improved things.

Something I did see recently in the Play Store, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite by Niantic. But only pre-registration at the moment. Presumably for Niantic, Pokemon Go is no longer a thing, and so they're going into the Wizarding World of J K Rowling.

Never read the books, never seen any of the movies, heck I am still trying to grasp the whole twilight saga:thinking::rolleyes::mustachedroid:

Well I can confirm....
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite + People's Republic of China = FAIL!!

Absolutely nothing to be found, just like Pokemon Go in China. I'll be in Thailand and UK in a few weeks time for a while. May give it another try then.

BTW this video I still find amusing, about trying to play Pokemon Go in China, and the disappointment.

I haven't read the books either but I did see a couple of the movies.

I think it is really cool the way you are keeping your students engaged in the learning @mikedt.

What do they think about any of the Marvel movies mate? Are superheroes a thing in China?

Superheroes are huge in China. I've seen most of the recent Marvel and DC movies in the local cinema. Things like Avengers, Aquaman, Black Panther, Spiderman, etc. I often talk about them with my students during English corners, as most students are really into them.

Even my witch flying along the Beiyuan Expressway can't find anything... :(

...although this muggle{me) was in a taxi, and not on a broomstick.
