A few weeks ago I rooted my Galaxy S phone from its original state under the provider Three UK.I also unlocked it so that I am now able to use my vodafone UK SIM card.

My phone tells me

Model number: I9000
Firmware version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9000XXJVS
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVS-CL565837
se.infra@SEP-73 #2
Build number|: GINGERBREAD.XXJVS

I have been trying to download the Alan Rogers Campsite App but I keep getting the error insufficient space on phone when I know full well that there should be adequate space.

I have tried several tricks to solve the matter such as (i) turning phone off, removing battery, waiting, replacing battery and restarting phone and (ii) doing a factory reset and then trying nto install the app before installing any others. Both were no help.

It was then suggested that I buy & Install the app called "root explorer".
Then using "root explorer" find and delete the folder "com.create.arg" , which should be in a folder called "data".

I bough the app, installed it and ran it. I tried to go to the folder "data" but the app informed me that my phone needed to be rooted first.

How can I check whether or not my phone is rooted?

Go in your app drawer and look for "super user", It looks like this,

Dont be afraid of the thanks button:rolleyes:

It's nor there so my phone is debranded, unlocked but not rooted.

I have downloaded and extracted the files for rooting a 2.3.5 XXJVS phone and I now have Odin3 and CF-Root-VVJVS-V4.3-CWM3RFS.tar.

I then

1. Opened Odin on laptop
2. Switched off the phone
3. Restarted it using Volume+/Home/Start simultaneously and got the screen headed Android system recovery <3e>
4. Connected the phone to the laptop
5. Got a flashing cursor in the box ID:Com but the box did not turn yellow.

Where do I go from here?

What an idiot I am

I should have started the phone using VOLUMEDOWN/Home/Start then I am presented with a screen showing downloading.

Back to the drawing board.

I will now try Odin again.

After starting Odin it now gets as gar as file analysis and then hangs.

I then relaised that my antivirus program could be reason for this to happen so I removed the app and then re-ran Odin.......

.........

IT WORKED - the phone is now unbranded, unlocked and rooted..... phew.

I went back to the app Root Explorer and ran it and it now worked.

I then went to the data directory but could not find the file com.create.arg.

Any suggestions?
