Help J7 Prime Wi-Fi connection issue

Hics

Lurker
I bought a J7 Prime about 2 weeks ago. It worked fine initially but a few days ago, it started to intermittently loose the Wi-Fi connection. It still can detect the router but simply just refuses to auto reconnect! I had to manually reconnect it but only to loose the connection again a minute later! Very frustrating. All other devices of mine seem working normally without such issue so it's unlikely the router problem.

I searched through the internet, nobody has any fix for J7 Prime yet but there seems to be similar issue reported for J7 (no Prime), caused by Wi-Fi saver mode. This can be fixed by dialing *#0011# to enter the service mode and turn off the Wi-Fi saver. But such option turns out to be UNAVAILABLE on J7 PRIME. Could anybody advise where to access such function on J7 PRIME?

I have another suspect, which is the latest patch pushed out by Samsung. This Wi-Fi issue happened to surface after the update was installed few days ago. Could anybody advise what should I do to verify that and if it is possible to revert (without factory reset)?

As I typed, the Wi-Fi has auto disconnected countless times. Very frustrating. Appreciate help in this issue.

Thank you very much.

Hi, I haven't tried out another network yet. I do plan to monitor it closely when I head back to the office after weekend. But I am not holding out much hope as the same network seems to work fine on all my other devices, including iPad air (iOS 10), note3 (Android 5), surface pro 4 (windows 10). I did find some posts about the Android 6 (on my J7 Prime) causes issues with Wi-Fi connection, I hope that is not the case as Samsung is notoriously slow in pushing out a fix.

Repeat a couple of times to see, a simple IP conflict can result in a connection drop.

If things don't get fixed, try your device on another Wi-Fi network to make see whether it was the phone's issue.

Hi Ivt, thanks for the advice. Restarting router again does not help. I will monitor if the same issue happen on my office Wi-Fi network.

Over the past few days in the office, I did not experience any drop in Wi-Fi connection on my J7 PRIME, but there was no connection drop too at home. Just when I thought this was a one time issue over last weekend, it hit again starting last night. The Wi-Fi connection on my J7 simply kept disconnecting, although the network was still detectable but it couldn't auto reconnect despite auto-connect check box is checked. Resetting router did not help. What baffled me is why all the rest of my devices do not have such problem, only J7 is hit with such unreliable connection? I am not sure if weekend could be a commonality yet, insufficient data.
