Are you saying you are using LG-E400 smartphone (with a typical 3.5mm jack) and have earphones with a small connector? What headphones do you have?

Typically audio connectors come in 2 sizes, 3.5mm and 2.5mm. If yours smaller, than you will need 3.5mm to 2.5mm (or vise versa) adapter. Some studio headphones come with bigger connector, 1/4" or 6.3mm. New headphones have this connector removable (or you can just unscrew it). If you have a bigger connector than 3.5mm standard, and you can't unscrew it from headpones, you will need to get 3.5mm to 6.3mm (or 3.5mm to 1/4") adapter.

Google it to find it. Usually those cost about $2-$3 each on amazon or ebay.
