Help JB Update: Carrier bought from or SIM carrier?

I have an unlocked S3 which I bought from one company, yet when delivered it has a phone carrier (Optus Australia) logo on start-up screen and some optus apps. I don't use a SIM from that carrier, I'm actually working at the moment in Vietnam and have a Mobiphone sim (VN carrier) in the phone. I'll be here for a while.

Is the JB update based on Optus who has branded the phone, or on the SIM carrier that is currently in the phone?

Welcome to the forum BobbyBamboo.

If you open your dialer and dial *#1234# you'll see your csc. That's what updates are based on. It's not available at the moment but as soon as it is jb should be available for an ota update regardless of where you are.

Sorry I forgot something important. Any update will be when Optus release it as the csc will be an Optus csc.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Googling the CSC number does indeed show it belongs to Optus.
