After reading all of these articles on the Droid, I wish I had just let my TMo contract run out and waiting to switch to Verizon. :(

Gadget, Smartphone, and GPS device of the year. 2.1 coming soon with amazing features. And here we are on 1.5 with a nearly brand new phone.

Sorry I'm just sitting here wishing I'd wake up with 2.1 tomorrow. Just let me enjoy my moment.
 
I can understand your frustration , I wish all these manufacturers will get moving with the updates. I mean 1.5 now is really "out-dated" and doesn't allow for some applications which is such a shame and not really taking full advantage of the phone.

I just saw BH_Man (s) screen shots of his OS root. It looks AWESOME!

I guess in the final analysis, what remains is to see if Samsung/Tmobile will update beyond 1.6 for our phone for those of us who want officially updated OS's.
 
Galaxy got a 1.6 update, which coincided with a rumour it will only be upgraded as far as 1.6

It seems behold, spica etc _will_ get another update. I wonder when :P

When you say "another" update, do you mean a different (greater than 1.6) update?

What is reportedly being released to SB2 users now is more of a "bug-fix" ... an incremental update. Could you expound?

Samsung Galaxy Gets Official Android 1.6 Update Unofficially | Android Phone Fans

An official update of the Galaxy to 1.6 has been leaked. So its both official but not officially released yet.

And from what Kam is saying, since the Behold II is very similar to the Galaxy(thats why they can port the Galaxy to the BH2), if they updated it, then they could very well easily update the Behold II. But thats all speculation.
 
Its an official signed release. Someone just leaked it early i guess :P

Spic etc will go direclty to 2.x rumour has it. Bh2 has a bugfix over OTA. My best guess is they wont bother with 1.6 on bh2 and go directly to 2.x

The 1.6 uses the new .29 kernel. I suspect we should be able to use alot of the apps with the existing kernel. Someone should grab its system.img and extract it as normal and see what happens. Remember you will most likely need to use the hardware keys to do a factory reset.

If that doesnt work then we need to compile the kernel. I posted some suggestions to BH_MAN and he seems to be working on getting a modified kernel to boot.
 
Did anyone catch the Behold 2 commercial yesterday. It came on during Celebrity fit club on VH1. It was a super hero theme, something like behold your hero.

Since Samsung is finally backing the Behold 2 with some marketing dollars, it's a good indication that we'll probably see a 2.x upgrade.

I felt a lot better after watching it :D

I have been noticing the Banner ads here and elsewhere online for the SB2. It is encouraging...hopefully we'll get at least 2.0 (please, please!!!)

Oh I know. I was surprised to see them. Like others and myself have said, this is a great phone hardware wise. Lets just hope we get past this "vista" era and move on to the happy plains of "7"

I asked Samsung on Twitter about the ad. I'll post back once I hear something.
 
If it helps, tell them it was the comic book hero commercial. I've been googling all over and I still can't find it.

BTW - what banners are you talking about? I haven't seen one yet

Yes, I have said over and over - Its the buggy 1.5, its the doggone buggy 1.5 that is killing this great phone!!! - This new ad campaign perhaps says that they still have plans to support us, since they are boosting awareness.

And I'd much rather get the official update than root. But at least we now have options. (BH_Man's root is sweeeeet). So, either way we can get to 2.x - I am pleased.
 
Wow thats hot. I wanted this phone when I first heard of it and well this makes me want it all over again. Sure there are some issues and we've all found ways to deal but the big reason for this phone is the camera. I could care less the N1 has Android 2.1, it doesn't take pictures like this phone does.
