Jellybean update - Mass storage to kies

Hey guys,

Just updated to Jellybean and need to put all my contacts, apps etc. back onto my phone but for the life of me can't find in settings how to change back from mass storage to kies.

It'd be much appreciated if someone could tell me, been looking for a good 15 minutes.

Depends, how did you update? If you updated via Kies, you shouldn't have lost any of your contacts or data. If you updated via another means, like manually flashing Jelly Bean on your device, you won't be able to connect to Kies anymore. You can only have Kies mode on official Samsung firmware.

Yeh I did the update manually, I guess that explains it.

Do you know if I do a factory reset if it will go back to Gingerbread thus allowing me to get all my stuff back on my phone via kies?

Thinking if I might just do a reset, get all my stuff back then back it up with google or another program and manually update to Jellybean again.

Thanks for the reply btw.

Nah I didn't do a nandriod backup, didn't really think this through.

My contract is up in a couple days time so did it purely out of interest on my Galaxy S 19000, so guessing I can't get them back.

Given my ignorance so far I'm almost too scared to ask and expecting the inevitable answer that my backup on Kies wont be able to go onto my new Samsung Galaxy S3?

Nope, you need to flash it back to the original firmware. Hopefully you did a nandroid backup.

Sorry to piggy back on this thread, but if I update to Jellybean, willl my contacts on my sim card still remain untouched? Also i was unaware updating to a different OS wiped your phone of data, what exactly gets lost?

I've just switched to android and havent got round to awitching my contacts from sim to gmail yet....

Oh that won't be a problem. You can restore your Kies backup to ANY Samsung phone.

SIM card? No they won't be touched. If you are skeptical you can remove the SIM and do an update without it.
