"(John) started using Facebook Messenger for Android" notification problem

After installing Facebook Messenger for Android app every facebook user can see a notification on my wall that says "(John) started using Facebook Messenger for Android".

I need to delete the notification... !

it does not show on my wall when i browse in my profile -- so I **cannot** delete it by myself -- but each and every facebook user can see it. :eek:

this is so disturbing to me :o

Why? Whats wrong if they knew you installed an app, and that they can chat you up anytime? Anyway, I don't know what you did because I did not think it showed up on mine, and if I remember correctly, it ASKS you if you want to post a notification, so unless you really weren't reading and just going "okay" on everything, I don't think there's anything you can do about it anymore.
 
@chanchan05: it did not ask me, and I uninstalled the app so its pretty deceiving leaving the notificaion on my wall. Thanks for posting, chanchan, but im afraid you just did not answer the question and that just did not help. :(

maybe anyone know the answer... ?
 
Bump. I have this same problem and don't know how to make that notification on my wall go away. Everyone can see it, but when I go to edit my wall from my account, that specific notification doesn't even show up. Thus, I am unable to delete it. Yet it still sits there in my wall. How do I delete this?
 
Anything about notifications in FB settings online? On the computer, not mobile.

On this site, you can edit your signature or not have any.

I've seen complaints about sigs in other forums. There's "sent from my Android" and "Sent from my Iphone" both.

You'll see every notification on Facebook, but you can turn off notifications about specific posts as you view them. Learn more.

All notifications, except the ones you unsubscribe from
Important notifications about you or activity you've missed
Only notifications about your account, security and privacy
You've unsubscribed from emails about:
Posts on your timeline
Turn OnPokes
Turn OnPhotos you're tagged in
Turn OnEvent invites
Turn On


Activating allows Facebook Mobile to send text messages to your phone. You can receive notifications for friend requests, messages, Wall posts, and status updates from your friends.
You can also update your status, search for phone numbers, or upload photos and videos from your phone.

Here's a copy of the options on the computer site. Looks like you have/had the last one enabled.
Check to see if the mobile app has an opt-out for this. Then maybe a reset would work and someone could help you find a 3rd party way to post on FB.

Just to be sure I understand what you are saying.
You are saying that it is posted on your timeline that you are using Fb messenger and you can't delete it?
 
Yes, but it only shows in "View as Public."

Don't think it really has to do with the Messenger. Just that you installed the app on your phone.
