Doing a button method restart usually works. It's a common issue with the device

your screen needs replacing
Your battery is swelling most likely, causing pressure on the screen resulting in those buttons not working. Seen it many times. As soon as you release the pressure by popping e back off it will return to normal.
If its unlocked you can use a screen orientation app that will flip those buttons to the top and they will work.
