Juice defender application on your device; Good or Bad?

Rush

To each according to their need...but for me, I had to remove/uninstall this app from my phone (Htc Evo 3d). I noticed since installing juice defender most of my data usage applications wasn't operating as they did before...Example: Pandora radio(stops every other song searching for coverage), Gmail and Yahoo emails would arrive 2hrs after being sent(they took longer than the occasional 15 to 20mins time intervals, plus a few other applications that didn't seem to be working as they normally did before. Whoever getting better battery consumption and greater overall performance since installing this app _ Kudos to you. Juice defender may be a good app, but it doesn't seem to work well with my phone.

I find that the Evo 3D maintains it's radios well enough on it's own. The 3G radio, especially, knows when it's needed and when it's not. So Juice Defender was more of a hindrance.

I would say, JD doesn't match well with your patterns of use. One of the things it does to reduce power consumption is turn of specific radios which will interrupt sync'ing. If you rely on push mail and timely notifications, it would indeed raise havoc with your lifestyle.

For those who only use their phones for texting, games and browsing, it could be a significant improvement.

I believe it will be another contentious topic again. Android OS by itself already manage it's memory aggressively think called Dalvik. I don't see how 3rd party apps can do it even better for those unrooted since they depend on the SDK API isn't it?

I'm sure most of these so-called battery booster and better phone performance application(s), are really application(s) that either consume more battery power, and/or interfere with the phone performance. Hey, if they work for you _ yepee! But as far as I'm concern - our phones doesn't need much help.. oops! I almost forgot, they need better batteries to accommodate these type of phones.

What they do is automate what you can accomplish on your own.
To me, it was worth the money to have the app make the 15 or so changes for me rather than wading through. On my own, constantly.
Where I used to get 5 hrs of use. I get two or more times that, now.
Yep, it shuts down the polling apps...until I open them. And when I complete my transaction, shut them down again.
