Jumping into Android...Is it too late to buy a droid?

Hey guys, I am finally going to jump into the ANDROID world. I just wanted your opinion on something. Since I am on verizon do you guys think its too late to purchase a droid?

Why would it be too late? Are you worried that another, more powerful, android phone might come to Verizon soon? Odds are, yeah, that's certainly going to happen at some point. HOWEVER, keep in mind that it will likely have issues. And the Droid has been out long enough to where it has had updates to resolve most of its problems.

So the question is not "is it too late" so much as your question should be "do I want a phone that has had nearly all of the issues worked out, or do I want to deal with more problems BUT have superior hardware?" Take into account that the latter option will eventually have it's problems worked out sooner or later, depending on the manufacturer.

But speaking from experience, if the next "big" android phone to hit Verizon is a Samsung, go with the Droid, or you will be waiting FOREVER to get your issues resolved through Samsung. If it's another manufacturer, then the choice is really up to you;)
 
The next "big" Android phone to hit Verizon, I believe, is in fact the N1. It's already received an official update from Google one month after release to address some of the most notice problems, and it's got a huuuge developer community working the kinks out of it thanks to being more or less a developer-oriented phone (as it's got a built-in unlock command).

But yes, waiting forever "just in case" the next big thing comes out will... well, land you in a spot where you're stuck using a Nokia dumbphone forever. If the phone you're looking at matches your needs and tastes, go for it.
 
too late? nah, you can get one real cheap now!! Depends what you're looking for, and if it's a droid you're looking for, then get one!
 
my husband and i just upgraded to the android family last month, i got the motodroid, and he got the droid eris...he got his for free since i got mine on the upgrade. its never too late to get any phone, it matters if it matches what you're going to need, not when it came out.
 
Not to late. Droid is better for some people than the Nexus because it has the keyboard that some people can't live without, others think waiting for N1 is a good idea. But either way, Droid is a great phone. Our family has 3 now!!
