I got an android phone yesterday and have a few questions regarding apps, I've heard alot of negative and positive about this Advanced App Killer. Does it work, and it it worth it? I wanna maximize my battery life. Second what about the Juice defender app that supposedly maximizes battery life. Is it true to its word, if not fill me in on some apps that work well. Thanks guys.

No task killers needed or wanted after 2.2. I use Juice defender (the beta) and it saves a little without being obtrusive at all. For battery savings, keep the gps off unless you need it and turn the screen back light down as low as you can tolerate and the screen timeout as short as you can stand. Don't necessarily believe the " I installed/did/flashed X and got 15 billion hours on a charge" posts. Most are bs, either intentional or mistaken. You may through improved kernel/rom combo and/or battery saving procedures save 5%-10% maybe even 20% of a charge. If you expect more than that and aren't good at self delusion, prepare for disappointment.

I absolutely agree with the above 2 posts: task killers do more harm than good.
Follow the usual suggestions to save battery life, like reducing screen brightness and you will have a trouble free performance from your phone.
