Just bought Android X kinda dissapointed -- no justin tv? -- and more

i just got my android X and its verizon, ive never had a smart phone but it seems to be that compared to my gf's iphone which is 3gS it the internet seems fairly slow taking anywhere from 10-17 seconds for each normal page to load and anything with a video type content on it to take 15-25 seconds at the least. Also, i read a lot about a justin tv app, and was under the impression that the software on the new droid would be able to handle jtv without an actual app though from what i read an app was already available but it turns out that app is a beta app.

one thought that did occur to me is that the X is a new phone so that maybe there would be some update for its operating system.

now, for those of u that are familiar with the mlg gameroom my friends htc incredible can play videos from that, soemtimes they can get kinda choppy but for the most part work and my X doesnt even start the video.

so does anyone know of any info on the droid x, any updates, or anyone having slow net speed.

or

does anyone know of any info on the jtv apps or if their are any apps that are similar to that

I just switched to Verizon from AT&T (just for the android choices) and have to say my Dinc is 10 times faster (1-2 second page loads) than my iPhone 3G on the web. My only complaint is the call quality. My iPhone on AT&T was 1000% better on a phone call. Coverage is supposed to be almost identical where I live. I have a tower blocks from my house and get a weak signal on average (-90 to -102). I have yet to drop a call but I have had some pretty garbled calls. Even with those signals I still get great 3G Internet thought. I have tried all the tricks and tips and while some helped a bit, none have been a fix. Everything else about the Dinc satisfies me over the iPhone though. I will be Android forever unless some technology comes along that blows it away. I haven't tried Justin.TV yet but I will tonight. I have a channel there I watch weekly.

Your internet speed will depend on your signal quality. If you're getting 1-2 bars and your gf has 4-5 on her iPhone 3gs, then her's will obviously be faster. With equally good signal strength the Droid X should be at least as fast or faster than the 3gs. Also be sure that your gf isn't on Wifi while she's browsing.

Word is there is a justin tv app in the works for Android. Check out this page to download the beta but use at your own risk:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7328319

Please read that carefully before trying it.

Also the Droid X is slated to get Froyo (Android 2.2) soon and from what I read, Justin Tv's website works with it, so soon you should be able to just view the website.

You should try using the Safari browser for watching justintv. I use it with my DInc and am watching That 70's Show on justintv as I type this. You just need to remember that Android 2.1 has only the Lite version of Flash so often streaming can be hit and miss.

I dont see why you shouldnt have the same results with your Droid X.

Because the X does not have flash lite on it.

The Droid X will get 2.2 soon. Then it'll be able to play Flash.

You also seem to be confusing Internet speed with device speed. The Android browser, at least in 2.2, is much faster than Safari.

Have your girlfriend update her 3GS to iOS4. Then you'll understand what slow truly means.
