And it was amazing.
This was my 2nd X-Com play through (first with Enemy Within). Just finished this game on my Xperia Z3 Compact and just want to say how pleased I was with the overall experience. Not only has an awesome game been ported to android in full glory, the fact that I was able to finish it says a lot. Great example of how to properly port console games and a superb touch control system that never really hinders gameplay.
Finishing on a Z3 Compact just shows that this game can be completed, fully and enjoyably on a 4.3 inch screen. In case that was a concern, I'm happy to say it never got in the way, and really made this phone that much more cooler.
Some of the challenges I experienced were:
buggy in later missions, the further I got, I started to notice some bugs that felt related to loading too much data. There was also increased hiccups during some actions in later missions, while i'm not sure, I felt it was in part to having advanced soldiers. As they gain more skills, more icons and actions become available and I think it took additional resources to render (at least it felt like). Nonetheless, this did not heavily affect game play.
Movement difficult with multiple heights, later in the game on some stages that has the ability to be in the same spot in various heights, it became more challenging to dictate which spot exactly. There is a height adjustment control available for this very concern so it wasn't a huge challenge.
Looking for my next all-star experience, any recommendations? I like large, epic, console like games that has a hard ending. Willing to pay up to $20 for said game.
