Help Just got a galaxy ace

i just have a couple of questions:

how come when i clear the ram memory there are 15 apps running, is that normal?!

how can i stop it searching and updating my emails?
i probably shouldnt have signed in to begin with!

is the battery useless or is it me?
i used it as an mp3 player from fully charged yesterday and it was dead after 6 and a half hours... not ideal!

is there an idiots guide to this rooting stuff?
i have no idea what it's about but it must be good if everyone's doing it to their devices!

yep i know im a phone noob :D

Yeah, there are a lot of apps running at once, such as your WiFi, it definitely uses your RAM.

@ Email problem, there should be a sync option in your e-mail settings, press the menu key when you're on your e-mail app and you should find it.

@ Battery, you are absolutely right, it doesn't have a huge autonomy. However, I suggest you to press the menu, go to "about phone" and then select the "battery use" option. With this, you will be able to see what's using your battery the most. Then, consider deactivating some apps, reducing brightness and locking your screen more often if those are leeching your battery the most.

@ Rooting, there's a section here dedicated to rooting, here's the link: Ace - All Things Root - Android Forums

Keep in mind that it will void your warranty.

Best of luck!

Great response, Pit ;)
Just to add: keep WiFi, 3G, BT and GPS off all the time (unless you need something, of course :D)
