Just got a Moto x!

Just wanna jump into the forum. What do I need to know. I'm a phone junkie and just got this phone today! Had s4 on Verizon, left for nexus 5 on T-Mobile but was unhappy with coverage so came back to Verizon and grabbed a Moto x. Figure it's the closest thing to a nexus Verizon has.

I was so torn on what phone to get. S4,htc one or Moto X! So many nice devices these days. Had an s3 for 2 years then went to s4. Always liked the Samsung. Of course I didn't use touchwiz anyway. The one big thing I dislike on the X is the camera. I take a lot of pics and the s4 has a nice Camera. The moto x lacks greatly in this department even after the updates. The jury is still out on battery life as well. Have to wait and see.

Weird, as my X takes better pics than my S4. Yes, I have both right now, and I've got over 20 years of professional shooting under my belt :D:D

I went from an S4 to the X, and I love the X so much more than the S4! It's the first phone with "lower specs" that gives a much better overall experience!

Congrats on the X!

I also went from an S4 for the Moto X. I picked it because it's so similar to a Nexus devices (which you can't get on Verizon), and because of their Cyber Monday deal. The S4 is nice is many ways, but I disliked how Samsung seems to be trying to make their devices feel like they're not even Android anymore. I guess that's the touchwiz.
And the camera surprised me, at how good it is! I read reviews before I bought the phone that said the camera was the biggest drawback. Seems like they fixed it pretty good! Just gotta be careful to clean it before taking pictures as I usually end up accidentally getting finger print smudge on the lens.

Wow really. I have found the camera to be sub par at best. Outside it does well but inside is a crap shoot. I find the auto flash is very finicky.

i've been a photo editor, and photoshop instructor for over 20 years, and i too am not 'thrilled' with this camera. the output files are overly 'hard'. too much processing; too much internal sharpening and contrast applied. i'd like a less processed file that i can work with. as is, the shots are loaded with hard edges and artifacts. and yeah, lots of digital noise on dimly lit scenes.

i'll play around with it more (i've only had the camera for one day! lol), and maybe i can adjust the internal settings....or maybe there's another 'camera' app out there in Google Play that is better. time will tell.

The camera update certainly made a big difference, whether or not it is a good overall camera is clearly somewhat subjective and up for debate :)

But for sure it's much better than what you see in most reviews of the phone.
