My MyTouch just got updated to Froyo, which is great, and it has Exchange activesync, which I guess is great too. The only problem is that I'm feeling kind of behind because even though everybody else seems to already know, I have to ask, what is Exchange activesync? What all does it do?

It's a method of connecting to certain types of email servers, commonly used my corporate mail servers.
It has nothing to do with Gmail.
In fact, Active Sync has always been available on my phone pre-froyo.
If you don't need it to connect to a work email account, then ignore it and live happily in your ignorance.

Believe me, not everyone does. Very few Android forum users seem to actually be familiar with Exchange and ActiveSync. Most that know anything know it's "for corporate email" and that's probably about it.
Yup. Sounds like you were putting the cart before the horse. You need ActiveSync if you have an Exchange account to sync with. Otherwise you're looking for a problem with a solution.
Though, IIRC, Hotmail just started offering ActiveSync.
They're commonly corporate email servers but my person email account is a hosted Exchange account.

lg revolu. using exchange 2007 mail, calendar, email seem synch ok, so far. no choice to select tasks.
