Just got the D2, need some help please?

Hey, I just registered hereafter getting the Droid 2 yesterday. I like it very much, it's awesome. MUCH better than the Palm Pre.

What are the coolest apps, most helpful/fun?

I've noticed a lack of widgets, is there a seperate WidgetMarket or something?

Also, what is rooting?

A lot of apps you have or can get from the market come with widgets that you can add by long pressing on the homepage or by pressing the + button.
There is no separate widget store...

rooting is gaining 'super user' access to the root folder of your phone allowing you to use functions of the device that normal users cant. some apps require your phone to have been rooted.

my 3 tips would be:
1. dont use a task killer!!!
2. get widgetlocker
3. try launcherpro

gmote: useful as a wireless mouse/keyboard
pdanet: for when you have a laptop you can give it internet anywhere
doubletwist: music player
facebook: self explanitory
beautiful widgets/weather widgets: Big cool flip clocks
battery status (widget): tells percentage of battery life
barcode scanner: for when you see a cool app online, just scan the QR code and market will pop up
google voice:

rooting is giving root access to you're device
