Well, if you're on Verizon, and your phone receives an update, then it must have come from Verizon. Your phone won't receive an update from another carrier.

Keep putting off update, lollipop screwed up my note 4 and it's finally getting back to normal want to see what people are saying before I update

No *extra* harm done to my phone by this strange update that keeps the 5.0.1 version. Hasn't fixed anything either, that I've noticed.

Best to stay on KitKat if that's an option. Otherwise, just do the 5.0.1 patch.
