Help Just sold iPhone to get a One X, contacts question

So I was under the impression that I had all of my contacts backed up with my Google account through my iPhone. After receiving my One X and trying to sync my address book in the settings with my Google account, I got nothing. The only other place I had my contacts backed up was through iTunes as I backed up my iphone regularly.

I managed to download a 3rd party application on my computer that lets me read all my contacts, so technically I can manually enter all 500+ of my contacts into my new phone, but I'm gonna go ahead and leave that as a last resort.

My question is, is there a way to extract the contacts from my iPhone's backup file to my One X? Or is there ANY way possible to get my contacts back without Google? I've searched high and low for answers to this and they all point in one direction opposite of me. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi RoganLigby,

I have not had an iphone but have just got a one x as an upgrade to my desire plus i have a HTC Flyer. I've had no issues sync'in contacts with both devices........if you log into you google acc from your pc and go to https://www.google.com/contacts/ do you contacts appear there?? If not then you have not got them backed up to your google acc.
If you have them back up to iTunes you can export them as a CSV file and then import them onto you phone (I Think).

Good luck.

Hi,

You could export the contacts as csv's from iTunes and import them into outlook. From there you can sync with the hox.

If you are sure you backed them up on google contacts try the restore action to an earlier time. This has helped me a number of times.

thanks guys for the replies. When you say to export them as CSV's, how do I do this without the iPhone? That's the only way I know of how to do it.

Have you logged into your Gmail account on a PC to see if all your contacts are saved there? If they are not then they haven't been synced from your iPhone.

Yes I checked, and it confirmed that I have not synced them from my iPhone. Otherwise I'm sure this thread would have never been here!

From what I can tell iTunes doesn't store your contacts, it links to another program in the options such as Outlook or Windows contacts, do you know if this is the case and if so do you know which one?
